On Saturday, July 24th, we celebrated Pioneer Day by driving to Parowan, Utah. Our friends, Ron and Linda Larsen were the stars of a Quilt Show at the Old Rock Church. It was a fundraiser to get enough money to fix the roof! Linda contributed over 77 quilts.
We met the Larsen's in Jamaica on our first mission - 2010 - 2012. They were on their third mission! They served in England, Manchester, and Guyanna, and then Jamaica. She taught keyboard lessons and he carved nativity scenes from a coconut shell!
She and her sister were big quilters and when their sewing machines would need repair they had to drive somewhere else - so they went to a school and learned how to repair them so they could serve others in their community!
Linda makes wonderful quilts, as you can see. Each one had a story behind it - some squares were contributed by others for her to use.
She made this one on their last mission to Texas...she wants it draped over her coffin at her funeral, instead of flowers!!
