Christian visits Utah

Dear little Zain is just beginning to smile!
So much fun!

Aunt Polly gave us these cookie mixes to take to Fairbanks and make - they were fun and yummy - you put the cookie dough in a muffin tin and then make a well when they are baked - then fill with chocolate filling and top with either m and m's or Reeses pieces.
Christian and Zain - one of our oldest grandsons and the youngest!  Both wonderful!!  Maddie and Dane came from Rexburg and Christian from CO for a Sheffield Family event - Missionary homecoming!  It was in American Fork so they all stayed with us - so much fun!  Christian was a big help on Wednesday when we went to Fairbanks - we took him to the airport to fly back home afterward dinner.

Last of this Alaska Trip

Bear scat - fresh!  near the river where all the dead and dying salmon were by the thousands!  Sam said the bear come down at night and get their fill!
Salmon dying all over the place.  This was near Whittier - you really could not believe how many fish there were!
Sam and Dad with many, many dead and dying fish...interesting that they die and the bears get all full for the winter!

Alaska Sea Center - Seward

On Thursday, August 26th, we drove to Seward and visited the Sea Center there.  Here Sam and Lucy are near the glacier river - we walked on the beach for a while.  It was a pretty day and so fun to have an adventure with Lilly!
Glacier behind us!

Beautiful Lilly!

More Alaska

On Wednesday, August 23rd we went to Derrell and LaNore's for dinner - Sam and Allie brought a ton of yummy Chinese food from Panda Express.  Here Pepper, their dog, thinks he is a lap dog!  LaNore liked it!!
LaNore holding darling Lilly - she slept most of the evening!
Sam and I went out in their back yard to pick raspberries - Sam couldn't  resist jumping on their trampoline! See the raspberry bushes at the back left - covered with berries!!
When we got there Sterling was brushing her hair and asked me if I knew how to braid - I told her I could not do fancy French braids but I did do 'cottie garages' - so I did!
Kinkaid Park - just a few miles further west than Sam and Allie's house - great place to see the ocean!
Sam and Lilly!  Sam and Allie are the best new parents - love it and them!
We wanted a picture of us - 76 years old!!
This is our birthday treat from the restaurant - wow - we are old!
Potter's Marsh - this is an amazing place to visit - and we do that every time we come to Anchorage.

Alaska Trip

On August 16, we flew the midnight flight from Salt Lake to Anchorage - Sam picked us up at 1:30 am!!  He said he was used to getting up with the baby!!  We all slept in a little that morning!

These beautiful mushrooms were in the woods by Sand Lake - near Sam and Allie's house.

It was awesome to meet Lilly Allison Smith - she is perfect!
Harold and Lucy at Sand Lake - we would walk her in the morning for our exercise and hers!!
Lilly again - I held her as much as I could - needs to last until April 2023!

In sorting and packing some books, I found this sweet story "Mama, Do You Love ME? "  I brought it for Lilly, plus the cute Polar Bear and cub.  In the book was written: To Mom, I love you, Happy Birthday - Sam   cool huh?

Sam has a little bit of the 'farmer' in him - this is growing lettuce !
Will and Brittany - Sam and Allie's friends, were getting married the Saturday after we left.  Allie ordered this cute dress online and I'm sure Lilly looked darling in it!  Sam reported later that Brittany came to the wedding in a float plane!! so fun!!

Last of the Dam Jam

On Friday, Julie told us about the Summit County Fair going on in Coalville, and the Parade Saturday morning at ten.  Lindsey and the children went with us - it was kind of lame - no marching bands but lots of horses and lots of candy!!

When we got back to Rockport Polly and Chris were there and they brought their dogs and puppies.  Here Thia is cuddling with 'blue' and loving it!  Bean, the dad dog, is watching closely!
This really loved this little puppy and cried when they had to go home.
Reid and Tait in the puppy cage with their choice of puppies to hold.
Chris was so good - supervising all the fun!  He taught the Dam Jam children how to hold a puppy safely and then he showed them how he fed them solid food = they get it all over themselves and the parents lick them clean!  After that it was nap time for happy puppies.
All the children at the Dam Jam, I think - came over to have a turn holding a puppy!
Julie and Silas and So Big!!
We had an abundance of yummy food - I brought some caribou sausage that Sam had given us - along with this package of Caribou jerky - everyone loved it!

Traditional stairs of the church picture - all the grandchildren that were there - we are very blessed!

More Dam Jam

Look at these wonderful people - wish more could have been there - we took the picture on Friday, and Saturday Polly and Chris came but we were all so delighted at having the puppies we didn't get a picture!!
Silas with his Grandpa Smith - he is a sweet, calm baby!
Aunt Heather came up by herself, Chris was working and their children were all at Lagoon with their Kroeber cousins. She loved holding the babies !
We put Zain and Silas on the blanket - then all the other older cousins came to join the fun!!

Cute cousins - Silas born on May 4th and Zain on June 3rd - sure hope they can grow up and love each other like we love them!
