Birthday Trip to Alaska

Ever since last year when Derrell and I turned 74, and they came to Idaho and Utah and we got to celebrate with them ... I wanted to come to AK and celebrate our 75th!  So we did!  We had a covid test 5 days earlier  so we didn't have to be quarantined in AK - negative results and we were on our way!
Here is a Smith Detection machine at the Anchorage Airport - detecting a real SMITH! July 29th, 2020. Year of the masks!
Derrell picked us up at the airport and LaNore had a great pizza dinner for us at dinner time.  Love being around such great people!!
July 30th - we began the day with a morning walk with Lucy - she was happy about that!  Sam and Allie are on vacation in the Virgin Islands and left us the use of their truck and house - love it and them!
Notice the City trucks on the left - they are repairing Whitehall road - in patches!  We had to drive around some patches and come into the road from the other end sometimes.
On our walk around the neighborhood we found this house with huge nasturtiums flowers on their deck railing.  Grandma Poole always had these flowers in her front gardens - beautiful.
As we neared home we noticed two construction trucks stopped and the men out taking pictures - of this huge moose!  It was in a yard just across the street and north of Sam and Allie's - gotta love living in Alaska!!
This is Potter's Marsh - wonderful wildlife refuge - made accidentally by the Alaskan Railroad building in 1916!
There is a passage from the ocean through the marsh - from this bridge you can see the salmon beginning their spawning runs.  Lots of them this day!  upper left hand of picture.
