Rockin' R - Wednesday July 1st Fun Run - Rodeo

On Wednesday, July 1st - we had a Family Fun Run.  Heather, Briella, Emilee, Jennie, Grandma, Sam and Lindsey with Georgia all run about 2 miles.  It was before breakfast and Noah helped Grandpa put up the mileage signs and windmills.  We had planned on 5K - about 3 miles but didn't want to run on the road - so we just did 2 around the canal and trails.  Love that most in the family like to exercise!
I brought some arts and crafts supplies for the kids and bubbles.  They seemed to enjoy them. Those paddle-ball things - Lindsey remember when Kurt hit one in the back of the van and it went so hard toward the front it gave her a bloody nose!
Faye and Nyles liked learning more embroidery stitches.  Annabelle also learned lazy daisy stitch and French knots.  Grace brought her embroidery and is doing very well.  I sure love to see the next generation learning something that I enjoy so much!

At the pond, Kurt, Maddie and Ruby took out one of the canoes.
Isn't this a pretty place?  So much to do and enjoy with activities and family.

A good view of the tack barn and archery range.  The Rockin' R is a working cattle ranch - one manager does the cattle part and Brandon does the tourist guests part.
Clark on the rope swing - the water was a little too cool for most adults - but several of the grandchildren enjoyed it.
Clark swinging and the canoe coming back to shore.  Sheffield was playing at the shore a while later and filled his crock shoes with mud!  Then he stepped into them and the mud all squished out through the holes in the crocks - so funny!
We had wanted to do a family service project like building the benches at Rockport State Park in 2015.  The Ranch was a little reluctant because of the insurance liability - but Stan did arrange with Brandon to have some of our family help clean up after meals - here Kurt is supervising Ruby as she washes a bench off. Maddie is in the background doing her share.  Most of the children took a turn and it felt good to be contributing something to our days there.  By us cleaning up, it allowed some of the staff to leave early and get the next activities underway.
Kurt put up one of their hammocks on the lawn in front of the lodge - nice place to relax and dream!
