Set Apart and MTC

Sunday October 10th - Polly and Chris invited us to their house for dinner.  We were staying in  Lehi at a motel.  After dinner we drove to our Stake Center and our Stake President set us apart as full time missionaries.  Polly took notes and we received wonderful blessings - we are blessed to be able to serve.  The next morning - Polly and Chris picked us up and drove us to the MTC...so grateful for all their help.

At the World Map - pointing out South Africa!  We are called as Self Reliance and Welfare Missionaries -  working with Pathways in the South Area Office.  We will live in Johannesburg, South Africa.  There are ten countries that make up our area: Angola, Botswana, Leotha, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Elder and Sister Larsen - in our District going to Scottsdale, AZ as the Office Couple - they are in the same ward as Brenna Wilkinson - one of our favorite Russian missionaries!  Sister Larsen had Brenna in YW - and we talked about living in Green Bay and Elder Larsen asked if we knew Randy Born...yes we knew Randy, his wife Joyce and tyheir first three children! Elder Larsen was Randy's roommate in college at Utah State - were they taught and baptized Randy!!  Small world!

Another picture of pointing out South Africa - this time on the same side of the map!
Samuel H. Smith - statue of the first Church Missionary and an old Elder going on his fourth mission!
Elder and Sister Kendell are going to the South Africa Johannesburg Mission - we are in the Area Office.  He served his young mission there and they have visited a couple of times.  It was good to get to know them and learn about the culture, food, etc.  We learned how to say Thank You in Afrikaans - buy a donkey!

A copy of our District at the MTC - wonderful people and it was an amazing week to learn from each other and our good teachers - Brother Rich and Brother Parsons.  Our District President was Elder Beck - he has driven FED Ex truck for 30 years - a very humble great man.  His wife is a travel agent and she knows so much about social media - she helped me learn!
