Sunday, September 26th, Talks in Church

Becky drove down from Logan for our Church talks ... Derrell and Sue contributed so much for our mission, Becky also.  I have the best brothers and sisters!!  I'm wearing the watch/necklace Becky and Sue gave me when I graduated with my advanced degree, also the charm bracelet with all the kids names and birthdates on each charm - leaving both home.  We were told not to bring any jewelry of meaning.
Brenna Wilkinson - Russian missionary - we worked with her in both Irkutsk and Novosibirsk - wonderful young lady!  She is here at BYU - tested out of Russian Language with 16 credit hours of 'A'!!  It is so easy to love all the young elders and sisters - but some are very special!
Everyone who could come to the picnic - family wise.  Brenna asked if she could take a family picture for us...of course!
All the Grandchildren who were there - we feel so blessed - and missed those of you who couldn't come.
Happy Birthday to Kyle on Sunday, Kacey and Sadie on Monday!  yummy cake to celebrate!

Enjoying the pretty fall day at Spring Creek Park - the pavilion at Bicentennial park was already in use - they won't let anyone reserve them on Sundays - so we went across the street and had a small pavilion all to ourselves.  Dan drove his truck to our house and brought back the picnic table - thanks so much!

Wonderful to enjoy Family Food and Fun!  The kids went over to the play area several times.  A random dog showed up
to join our party...Sadie feed it a corn dog!  Then Ben thought to get the tag phone number and a man in a nearby apartment
building showed up and was grateful we had called!

Thanks to all who came - we sure are blessed with all of you in our lives!

Around Provo

Autumn is here!  The leaves on the mountains change more - overnight!  Mother Nature is beautiful and we are blessed to enjoy it!
Another mountain with pretty fall colors - my favorite!
Heather and Chris and children are all working hard to get their house where they can move back in  - before winter!
It is going to be so wonderful!

On Saturday, September 25th, Fairbanks came to Provo.  Dan took Sadie, Millie and Tait to the BYU Football game and Lindsey had Olivia , Georgia, Reid and Zain at the Fairfield Inn in East Bay.  We took Briella so Heather could go to the game, and then Isaac joined us after his shift at Papa Murphy's - East Bay!  Briella is just starting to swim, Olivia walking to the hot tub and Georgia in the hot tub!  I stayed with the girls when the game started and Grandpa went up to the room with Lindsey and little boys.  It was great to be of service to our family - and BYU won the game!!

Fromm's in Las Vegas!

On Saturday September 18, we drove to Las Vegas.  Sydney was stressed about all she had to do at her new job in the high school - in charge of Student Council - it is homecoming soon and there was a lot of work to do.  Heidi and Stefan were able to fly to NV on Thursday and stay until Sunday evening.  Jordan flew from WA and Kacey and Shelby drove from Orem - we decided to go and see all the Fromm's!  It was delightful - Jordan had never been to LV - so while Sydney worked at the high school, Stefan took Jordan, Kacey and Shelby around the strip, shopping and sightseeing.  Heidi and Dad and I shopped for groceries, then cooked some freezer meals for later when needed.
We met up for dinner at a delicious deep dish pizza place - right in the middle of the craziness that is Las Vegas!!
The Fromm family looking great in their masks!!  Nevada has a mandate that they are to be worn at most times!
Look at those wonderful faces!  Delightful Saturday, we were going to head back north and stay in Mesquite - Dan and Lindsey heard of that and got us a room at the Ramada Inn in St. George!  Sure love our kids and their spouses!
Just a shot of the casino we walked through between the parking garage and the restaurant - crazy!  We took Heidi and Sydney back to her apartment, Stefan and the other girls stayed downtown to see a Magic Show!!

Tait at soccer

Tait is in his first year of recreation soccer - he just runs and runs around - sometimes kicking the ball - but he is having a good time.
We were in Bountiful on Thursday, Sept. 16th - so we stayed for dinner and Tait's and Millie's soccer games.  Tait's team posing for pictures - Tait is right next to the coach.
Another picture of the team - more girls on this team than boys - and they did great!

Timpview Marching Band

Friday, September 17, was the Family Band Night for Timpview High School.  Eli is in charge of the clarinets and is on the end of the front row in this picture.  The band directors of Timpview and Provo are friends and held this first public viewing of the competition pieces together at Provo High School.  It was a great event - Beautiful setting and wonderful weather.
The whole band on the field.  They sounded really good - and the dancing added to the program.  Now they go to competition and hope to do well there.  I'm glad some people want to be high school band directors!!

Dad's Birthday - September 15, 2021

Thanks so much everyone for the cards, gifts, goodies and calls and texts - Dad had a great birthday and is in
pretty good shape for having lived 79 years on earth!!

Polly and Chris brought over his small birthday cake - German chocolate - yummy!  Polly has her oxygen and didn't get out

of the car but it was nice to see her - she is healing slowly!!

Our planned hike in the mountains didn't happen - we were very busy getting more visa applications things together - Dad had asked

for several months where was the South Africa visa application.  We were told it was okay - then all of a sudden someone realized we hadn't turned it in - because we hadn't been sent it!!  At least the Swaziland application was similar so we had many of the documents needed.  We needed another doctors certification, fingerprinting, typhoid shot, etc.  We did go out to lunch at Magelby's in Springville - they have a Wednesday buffet that is good, but expensive!

Provo Misc.

Cute Zain in his BYU Onesie! Dan and Lindsey came to the football game and we got to have this precious boy for a few hours!  Great game - BYU beat Utah for the first time in 9 years!!
Josh and Emily Youngs - both Novosibirsk, Russia missionaries - we were blessed to serve with them and happy to have a small celebration for them - September 10th.

The table of food at the gathering for the Youngs - plus our South African mission coming right up!
Polly in the hospital with the Get Well pictures that the Fairbanks children sent for her.
These boys are the best!  Reid, Zain and Tait Fairbanks - downstairs watching a video so their Mom can have a work meeting!!
Polly and Chris have this amazing nectarine tree - we just happened to be there and were able to help with the harvest!  We brought back to our ministering families a whole grocery bag full of yummy fruit!
Labor Day dinner party at the Williams house!  These ten puppies were the hit of the show!  The kids loved playing with them and the puppies seemed to like it also!

Dan and Lindsey planted this tree at their house in Provo a couple years ago - we walked by their old house on one of our morning walks and I wanted to document how nice it has grown!
These are our badges to be able to volunteer in the 8th Branch of the church in the Utah State Hospital.  We have enjoyed over two years of serving and will always pray for the Branch leadership and the residents that we had the opportunity to serve.  We had to give our badges back when we were released so I took a picture for the memories!!

Georgia's Baptism - Zain's Blessing

After Zain's blessing there was dinner at the Fairbanks house - here Lindsey and Zain are with Aunt Janice and Uncle Wayne Mortensen.
Lori and Amy came also - it was wonderful to catch up on them and all their families - great people!
Display of Georgia's picture and note cards for people to write to her - she couldn't stop smiling!!!

Dan and his 'three sons' - what fun adventures these boys will have in the future.

Four beautiful Fairbanks Sisters!!!

It was a great family event to have Georgia's baptism and then Zain's blessings - best days ever!!

The whole wonderful Family!!

Zain sleeping between the church and home ... he was so good.  Grandpa Smith said he was smiling all the time Dan was giving him a blessing!
Wonderful to have four of our daughters in one place! We missed the rest of you - always precious time to be together!
Two stars of the show!  Georgia was so darling and Zain very precious!
