Ephraim's Scandinavian Festival - May 28, 2021

It is Memorial Day weekend - we took flowers to the Pleasant Grove Cemetery for Grandpa and Grandma Smith, and the Provo Cemetery for Gramps and Granny.  I need to work on Saturday and Monday so we took off on Friday and drove to Ephraim, Utah to attend the Scandinavian Festival - we heard it advertised on the oldies radio station we listen to out of Nephi, Utah.

The festival was held at Snow College - and across the street is a big Institute Building and the Missionaries had a big booth - teaching people about family History.  They had this chalk board and asked people to mark where their ancestors came from - pretty much all the Northern countries - my Great Grandfather heard the gospel in Copenhagen, Denmark and joined the church. His name is Hans Christian Johnson.  He came to Utah and settled in Elsinore - he was a BlackSmith and had his own livery stable.  We owe much gratitude to our strong, faithful ancestors for their courage - giving us the blessings we enjoy.
This is the Danish Flag - music stand in the background.  Saturday is the big day for the festival so we didn't get much music!
Many delightful food choices - we choose barbequed turkey -yummy!
This young man was selling beautiful pieces of leather - he didn't make the saddles, but repairs them.
Fun cotton candy creatures!  This is a pig!
Baby Yoda
Olaf and a pineapple - it was funny to see the children and adults eating cotton candy creatures - very creative.

I can read Danish - maybe!  It might have been Swedish, Norwegian etc. All the flags were from Scandinavia - pretty.
Driving into town we passed the cemetery - such beautiful display of flags, just had to take a picture!  So blessed to have soldiers willing to die for our freedoms -  greatest blessings.  We called Savanna at her work to wish her a Happy Birthday - we left a message but she called back!  Loved chatting with her - and she got the live version of our singing!!  Happy Memorial Day weekend everyone - stay safe and happy!

Eli's Eagle Court of Honor

On Sunday. May 23, 2021 - Elijah H. Kroeber had his Eagle Scout Court of Honor.  Another Scout received his at the same time.  Heather put these things together so people could enjoy knowing a little more about Eli.  The computer was showing pictures of Eli on the Eagle Trail!
The Scout Master asked Isaac to hand out programs - both Heather and Chris participated - we were very proud of all!

Waiting to begin - Scout Master at the far right, coming back toward the left -  David their cousin's back, Ken Kroeber in uniform, Eli, Chris and Heather.
The Court of Honor was held at a pavilion at Rock Canyon Park - many soccer games played there by Kroeber's and Fairbanks! Keenyen and Briella waiting for the event to begin.
Cute grandkids!  We are blessed in that category!!
Clapping for Eli!
Pinning on Mom's Pin!  Dad also got one - quite the accomplishment and takes a whole family to complete!

All the people who came to support Eli - actually he could only invite a few - wish all of you could have been there!

Three Kroeber handsome men - all Eagle Scouts!  Chris just returned hours earlier from an out of state trip!  Proud and happy people!

Provo happenings

We planted this Columbine last year - Dad takes such good care of it - it grew 75% larger!  It is actually two plants, a yellow one and a purple and white - my favorite!  One Happy Plant!!
On the other end of our small flower bed in front of our house is another plant we got last year - a Bleeding Heart.  My Grandma Poole had a large one in her yard on Fourth Ave. in Salt Lake.  It has also more than doubled in size - another Happy Plant!  We hope the next tenants of this house take care enough to water them!  Chris W. fixed the sprinklers to cover them - oh well!
When we were in Bozeman Dad noticed Stan had some old wheelbarrows under his back deck.  He asked Stan about this small one and Stan gave it to us.  Just the perfect size for an old man to use!  Cute old man at that!!

Last week we noticed ducks on our front yard!  There is a whole flock of Mallards at the pond at the State Hospital - these might have come from there - a much bigger flock at Utah Lake!
Please notice the additions of wonderful Minnie Mouse pictures - from one of my favorite artists in Bozeman!!

More room on the fridge for other artists creations!

Iris plant that was given to us last year - joining the Happy Plant family!  This is at the back of our house...pretty ruffled yellow and white.
This is a cat that resides at one of the Caregiving Assignments I work at.  I know it is against ethics to disclose names of people I care give for - don't know about cats!  He likes to bat at the embroidery thread as I am sewing a dish towel!  One day I was mopping the floor in the kitchen and I heard a thud - went in the living room and he had knocked my sewing box of the piano bench and was sitting on it - like King of the Hill!! Here he is laying on my sewing bag.
I sewed a dish towel for this family, with all their names and the cats on it!  Since we have
cat people' in the family I thought I'd add this to my blog.  Isn't he pretty?
He supervises when I work - climbs on a chair and watches!!  I will miss visiting my clients and hope I can keep in touch with them.

Fairbanks 50th!

Bob and Kathy Fairbanks invited us to help them celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary... we were able to stop at the party on our way back to Provo from Bozeman - happy happy place!
This is Kathy's wedding dress - really wonderful, simple and elegant!
Bob's truck - wonderful in it's own right!
The fun party - yummy food and good company!  They are five years behind us in the wedding anniversary department!

More Montana Fun

We were so happy to make and freeze several dinners for Julie - and by the way - Thia loves meat loaf!  Stan says when they go out to eat that waiters try to get her to order from the children's menu - she will have nothing to do with it and wants the adult meat loaf!
Sweet Silas - it is so delightful to be around and serve when a new baby comes!  and we have two more coming!
Our dance party that last night we were there - Thia got out the music instruments and she lead a parade around the house waving her flag - so much fun!
Thia watching a video with her doll - Little Brother!  Last year she and Julie were in a line and she asked - Where's Little Brother, meaning her doll.  Julie answered - we left him in the car!  Now she has a real little brother that will never be left in the car!!
Julie made the best sugar cookies and froze them - when her sister Heidi and Thia's cousins were there they frosted some for Julie's birthday party.  We got to finish up on that and they were delicious!
The old Stanford City map that Thia loves to play with - I'm sure Silas will too - it was fun to see something last and be treasured!

I like to take pictures of this sweet baby - he has wonderful expressions and a calm demeanor - hope that lasts!
Baby ducks at the MSU duck pond - lots of ducks.  We brought frozen peas to feed them - much better than bread for their health.
Thia at the Duck Pond - the baby ducks swam really fast!
The fish pond is right behind the duck pond - lots of fun!  We loved our visit and will have to see them all again before we leave the country.

Montana trip

Luna has this unicorn stuffed toy that she plays with - she really likes it.

Funny dog laying half on her bed!
Grandpa and Luna taking a nap!!
Thia with the small quilt and sharing the large one with Silas.
She is a great big sister - and Silas is a perfect little brother - so far!
I brought my embroidery and Thia wanted to learn how - she did cross stitch in a "T" so well that we went on to straight stitch in a square.
She was a fast learner and I loved teaching her.  We ended up sewing Silas's initial on a bib, Dad - I love you on a bandana for Stan and she made a rainbow bead necklace for Julie.  We did most of the work downstairs so she could make it a surprise for the rest of the family. She likes the dress Aunt Katie sent her!
