Eye Surgery

On Tuesday, January 26, we visited with Jody Llewellyn from Jamaica.  She is living in Salt Lake and works at an Indian Street Food restaurant - we had dinner and she made us dessert!  So proud of her hard work and positive attitude!
The next day, Wednesday, January 27th, I had eye surgery on two clogged tear ducts.  It was minor and I slept on the couch with ice packs on my eyes all day!  Thanks Polly for the great gel packs - worked much better than the flimsy hospital ones -they leaked!
Polly and Chris brought me flowers - having them to look at made me happy!  My eye was pretty bruised and swollen for a few days.  Glad to wear a mask in public!!
This is four days after surgery, swelling mostly down, stitches in side of my nose, yellow jaundice in my cheek!  Again - very glad to wear a mask in public.  Dad said he was afraid people would think he hit me!  Grateful for good medical people and Priesthood blessings.

Rachel Johnson's quilt

Polly brought Pink the puppy over to visit us!  She is so cute!  She will go to her home in Hawaii in March.
Rachel Johnson, a dear sister missionary we knew in Russia, came over to have me help her make a tee shirt quilt.  She brought only her soccer jerseys - they were slippery material but it turned out okay.
She really wanted to learn how and did most of the work.  Her favorite color is blue, can you tell?
It was fun to chat and catch up with her busy life - she used both front and back if the shirts and placed them on the quilt - great job!  She picked out the material in between the squares and the back also.
This is Stein, her boyfriend - he came to help the last day.  Only a few places left to tie around the edge.

Rachel really liked how it turned out and now she knows how to to it!

Trip to Portage and airport going home

Sam and Allie have such a great house - they have put lots of work into it.  Aurora likes to lay by the fireplace and hides her eyes when the light it too bright!
Lucy with her head out of the window on our trip to Portage.
Doggy stop at the Portage Glacier.
Dad getting out of the truck - wanted to show the mountains on the other side.
Two old folks - enjoying the beauty of Alaska....thanks Sam for taking us.
There are Big Horn sheep on the cliffs - hard to see, huh?
Reminder at the Anchorage Airport to social distance!!
Mount Rainer in Washington from the airplane - such beauty.

Allie's and Sam's Offices

Allie made these plaques that are hanging in Sam's Office - this one is his University of Alaska Degrees.
This is the Military one - Captain Sam Smith!!  Didn't Allie do a great job?  so did Sam!!
Poster of AK mountains that Sam has hanging in his office.
This map of Alaska is made from a piece of metal from the pipeline - see the line at the far right?
Lucy likes to go with Sam to his office - she has toys and a bed, etc. there.
Dad and Sam printing our boarding passes - his stand up desk is so good!
Allie's office and the table Sam built for the conference room.  It is in three pieces to get it up the elevator and into the room.  It has a metal frame underneath.  See the tech plugs all along the side?
Allie was teasing Sam that he was over budget - he didn't mind!  It turned out great.  Allie's office is upstairs in the building that Emilee and Heather worked in the summer they spent in Anchorage.

Alaska Trip

This is Sand Lake - it is in Sam and Allie's neighborhood.  We had a great morning walk with Sam and Lucy - this house has their airplane with skies on it for winter - pontoons in the summer!
Lucy has this neat harness with lights - Sam said in the summer he doesn't want anyone to think she is a black bear!
Sam and Dad and Lucy at Sand Lake - it was good to see snow and ice - we haven't had enough in Provo this winter.
Lucy's harness flashes different colors - very cool.
Beautiful scenery in all of AK!!!  Plus two handsome men and a great dog!!!
